For several years now, due to changes in society, lifestyles and individual needs, we have been focusing on offering high quality solutions with an excellent level of service for those who wish to eat quickly and healthily both at home and while they are out and about. Given the ever more widespread use of the microwave oven, we decided to invest in developing a range of frozen products suitable for microwave heating. This type of fast heating meets the need to have things immediately that is becoming more and more common in our everyday lives. In Italy and also across Europe, it was only at the beginning of the third millennium that the microwave oven became more widely accepted by the general public and began to be used more extensively in the home. However, in North America, right from its earliest discovery the microwave oven was immediately an incredible success. Today it is estimated that around 95% of American families own a microwave oven. Based on this premise and in depth market research we created our ‘Microwave Snacks’, a range of frozen products specifically designed for this type of cooking. Our Research and Development department has worked on three main elements: 1) the in depth study of the type of cooking that happens in a microwave oven; 2) the creation of specific recipes, to limit the differences in crispness, fragrance and how evenly the food is heated in a microwave oven compared to a traditional oven; 3) specialist packaging, by tailoring the design of packaging and using innovative materials we are able to minimize cooking times, create practical, functional packaging and achieve a crispness and fragrance in the product very similar to those achieved using a traditional oven. In this phase of research and development we took full advantage of our close working relationship with several specialized research centers and our experienced packaging suppliers. As a further guarantee for our customers, our Quality Assurance System is constantly working using analytical methods to control hygiene, safety and standards of quality in our products and processes. This means that those who want to have a quick snack, heated up in the microwave can now enjoy eating a high quality product. Our snacks are practical to consume. Just take them out of the freezer, put them into the microwave without removing the packaging and in just a few minutes you will have a hot fragrant snack, which is ready to eat in packaging that can be used as a serving dish. The wholesomeness of our product solution was confirmed and recognized during the “Trends & Innovations 08” competition, organized by the SIAL trade fair. This competition gave recognition to the most innovative products present at the trade fair.
